WHAT IS THE VETERANS CENTER?

MISSION STATEMENT
The Hill Country Veterans Center will provide a place for veterans of all wars to find help with their problems, comradeship with other veterans in similar circumstances and a place to relax and unwind the pressures of daily life.

IT IS NOT A GOOD OLD BOYS PRIVATE DRINKING CLUB
An unfortunate image persists of a VFW facility occupied by old folks who simply drink and tell stories. Our membership is growing older and less able to do the things we know we should, but we are still active in community service projects. For reasons largely sentimental, Post 1480 will remain much as it has always been, at the original location on Thompson Drive. The Hill Country Veterans Center is a separate operation.

IT IS NOT A PARTY PALACE
Everyone knows that parties can be fun, but sometimes can get out of hand and disturb an entire neighborhood. This is not what the Veterans Center is all about. It is about helping veterans and serving the community.

IT IS A COMMUNITY RESOURCE
The center also serves the Kerrville area by making the facilities available to other organizations for special needs, such as the Red Cross who plan to use the Center as a distribution center in the event of a local disaster.
